SWANS V ROCKHAMPTON BROTHERS AFL Yeppoon Swans completed a clean sweep against Rockhampton Brothers to win all grades. A graders had a good day out with the old firm of Hawke, Wallin and Cam Watkin dominating center clearances at will. Roughy on the wing found a lot of space and at times his only opponent was the mangrove trees. Banksey was well and truly off the chain, gaining leather poisoning as brothers big men could not go with him. Up forward Dan Watkin in his first game for the season was dangerous as was Emmsy, Nichols, Havi and Alby. Eccles in his first senior appearance was solid, as was young guns Bassey and Zepp in the 120 point win. Reserve grade also had a big win as they push to qualify for finals, with a 76 point thrashing. Havi had a day out kicking 6 majors, a couple were even drop punts. The side welcomed back Miles in his first appearance for the season and he dominated with 4 goals. Young leaders McKenzie and Goth were inspirational and are in career best form, as their hard work on the training track starting to pay off. The Swanettes were on fire from the start and began the match with an avalanche of goals and never looked back. Three first quarter goals from Evelyn and the domination of the middle by Erin, Josie and Katie tackling like a machine set up the win. Up forward Tamara took control with Bec and Jenna having strong games. The massive win sent a clear message that the Swanettes are back in town! Under 17s blew their opponents off the park, with their most complete win off the year. Their improvement is steady as their winning margins begin to widen. The defense was again impressive and allows their team mates up forward to play an attacking style of football. Cowling had his best game for the season, as did Hubner off half back and Steers at half forward. The team had several players carrying injuries and they showed great team spirit to play through the pain to help the squad. Under 15s went into the match missing 4 key players giving other members of the squad the opportunity to stand up and lead the team to victory. Discipline was high, with players sticking to the game plan to set up the win early. The defense was again strong, making few errors for their opponents to capitalize on. Best players were Ari, Dylan, Patto and the Cossens Brothers. The under 13s season continues to roll on with a 37 point victory to kick start the day for the club. Riley was best on ground and brought his own footy for the game. Nathan kicked 2 super goals in another great team effort. Others to have strong games were Logan, Tommy and gun ruck man Coen. Next week the swans travel to Gladstone to take on the Muddies.
