SWFL Division 1 Sunday 9/3, 4pm ko Celtic 20s 4:1 DALFC DALFC goalscorer: Kerry Finlay The Pars knew it would be a tough start to the league campaign, having played Celtic Reserves twice last season, losing 4:1 away and 3:1 at home, so they knew how much quality this Celtic 20s team would have. And this was evident, with Scotland internationalist,Rhonda Jones in their starting line up. It was important the Pars work hard off the ball and contain Celtic 20s and this went well for us in the 1st half, and although Celtic dominated possession, DALFC ensured Celtic 20s had very few chances and managed to counter attack when we could. Pars did have the ball in the back of the net in the first half through Jane Doig but the referee disallowed for off side despite the insistence of the Pars players that the goal should have stood. Celtic broke the deadlock 2 minutes before the break and with a very well taken goal. The DALFC defence were caught square and the Celtic forward took full advantage of a lapse in concentration. With the Pars determined to give a good account of themselves, at half-time the manager made a change to a more attacking formation, going with two forwards up front. This paid dividends early in the 2nd half with the Pars getting back into the game with a great finish from Kerry Finlay. This was short lived however,as Celtic 20s scored almost immediately after the restart. This proved to be an important goal for Celtic 20s as they sprang to life, playing some great football. The Pars work rate, determination and heart was there for all to see as they tried in vain to get back into the game but it wasnt to be, with Celtic 20s scoring 2 further goals and playing some very good football. With the Pars tiring, Celtic 20s took advantage of their large squad and made a number of substitutions to freshen things up. With DALFC having only 2 subs and a player coach on the bench, they were always going to tire, however every player deserves so much credit for the way the team performed, as they never gave up and kept trying to get something out of the game. Absolute credit to Celtic for how they played, but with a number of injuries and players unavailable due to the later kick off, DALFC can take so many positives from this game! Onwards and upwards, bring on next Sunday!! #COYP #PARSFAMILY
