SYMBOLISM - Riots in Northern Ireland. On either side parades, flags, the name of a city of culture. Can anybody remember the last riot/controversy in NI that was actually about anything important instead of going crazy about some symbol. For example do loyalists actually know what they are freaking out about. The irish tricolour is green, white and orange. Did you know that the symbolism is that the green represents the nationalist tradition and the orange represents the unionist tradition in the hope that one day in the future they will meet and reside in peace in the white bit. Do nationalists actually know that our national tricolour is the black, red and gold of our german overlords at the moment.
