Sad to see the decision was made today to shut SONGS down permanently. Many of us have worked on this plant and know SONGS personal whose jobs might be in jeopardy as a results of this decision today. This, along with the other recent closures at Crystal River and Kewaunee, are a bump in the road, but remember there are still 100 reactors safely operating in the US today. We should view this as an opportunity to use our voice and influence in the public to encourage new nuclear builds to replace the megawatts lost from these closures along with the closures of fossil burning plants. The time to educate the public and help them understand that nuclear needs to be an important part of our future energy portfolio is now!!
