Safety Tip #17: Never Hide From Firefighters Usually this tip is geared towards educating kids during fire prevention week, but everyone should be reminded that firefighters can look frightening when wearing our protective gear, but you should never hide. If you are trapped in a room because fire is blocking your exit, close the door and try to get to an exterior window to signal for help. Hiding in a closet only makes a firefighters search all the more difficult.
