I believe that the verse today means if you use the bible (the WORD of GOD) as a sword to criticize, chastise, and even in your mind correct others with a know it all attitude; especially using the Old Testament you are not correct in GODS eyes! Not correct in GODS EYES because much of the Old Testament was telling people specific directions how take care of life things in a different era. For example the Old Testament taught people how to take care of food, good hygiene, and many other things. So using the Old Testament especially to correct people is using much information that is out dated, and we should never now a day’s be barbaric and cruel correcting others! The New Testament is how you should live, and spread GODS WORD. JESUS CHRIST was born not only to save us, but to teach us how to live correctly with PURE LOVE in our spirits! As ministers, saints, teachers of our LORDS WORDS we should live our lives the way the New Testament teaches us. The New Testament teaches us to live like JESUS lived with PURE LOVE being the most important law of all! The WORD spread with JESUS methods will be more receptive to others. Do not confuse others with outdated information from the Old Testament “especially in a harsh way”. Be loving, understanding, forgiving, and the way GOD gives your spirit light, wisdom through our SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST, and the HOLIEST of SPIRITS to spread the WORD.
