Sammy Yatim was Shot and Killed by Police this Last Saturday - TopicsExpress

Sammy Yatim was Shot and Killed by Police this Last Saturday Morning. Although, Yatim was Brandishing a Knife at the Time Many People are Upset, Calling the Death an Example of Police Brutality. Although, I Agree that Police Should be Allowed to use Deadly Force in Situations of in Which Suspects are Armed. However, in this Situation, 1 Cop Fires an Initial 3 shots, Pauses for 5 Seconds, Fires 3 More Shots, Pauses for 2 Seconds Shoots Another Round, Waits 2 More Seconds and Fires a Final Shot. The Question Really needs to be Raised, Why did he Fire so Many Shots? Clearly 1 Shot could have been Enough to Disable the Perp, Especially if Combined with Pepper Spray -which has a long Range -or a Taser. All of the Shots were Fired by One Officer, it’s not as if all the Officers at Once Shot Not Realizing the Others would do the Same. The Fact that the Police Officer Paused in Between the Shots, also Suggests that the Officer was Purposely, Consciously, Shooting to the Purpose of Killing the Suspect; he did not get Carried Away and Fire the Shots in one Consecutive Moment, but Rather he Paused, Stopped to think/ Observe and then Continued to Fire. This Suggests to me a Man who Lacked Mercy and Empathy. Sammy Yatin’s Death was not an Accident, it was Purposeful, it Should be Considered Manslaughter. Yet, Somehow I Doubt that he will be Even Fired. We Clearly have a Problem with the Culture within Our Police Forces Not Just in Canada, but in General and if We’re Serious about Transitioning into a More Democratic, Modern and Free Nation we Need to Start thinking about how to Change the Culture of Our Police Forces and Increase their Accountability. huffingtonpost.ca/2013/07/29/sammy-yatim-video-toronto-streetcar-shooting_n_3671041.html?utm_hp_ref=mostpopular
