Samoon reviews achievements under Horticulture, Sericulture & allied sectors JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 11- Commissioner/Secretary Agriculture Production Department Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon today reviewed the physical and financial achievements of the Horticulture, Sericulture, Horticulture Planning & Marketing and Command Area Sectors of Jammu Division here at a meeting of officers. Director Agriculture Jammu Ajay Khajuria, Director Command Area Development Jammu Hemant Kumar Sharma, Director Extension SKUAST Jammu Dr. K.S. Risam, Director Research SKUAST Jammu Dr. Ajay Koul, Director Horticulture Jammu Anil Kumar Sharma and Additional Director Sericulture Jammu M.L. Chadgal, other senior officers attended the meeting. A detailed review of releases and expenditures of all the sectors was taken district wise by the Commissioner Secretary. Clear instructions were given to all the sectorial officers to utilize the allotted funds under all schemes including Centrally Sponsored Schemes so that utilization certificates are submitted to Govt. of India for acquiring more funds to gear up further developmental activities. The chair stressed upon Horticulture (P&M) to frame detailed project reports for Apni Mandies and Other Mandies of the division on priority. While reviewing Command Area Projects out of release of 756.19 lacs an amount of Rs. 612.14 lacs has been spent ending August 2013 by way of construction of Field Channels, Warabandi. Director, Extension and Research SKUAST-J were instructed to train departmental functionaries and farmers focusing at enhancing the productivity and production of fruit and vegetables in the Division. Additional Director, Sericulture expressed that during 2013-14 an amount of Rs. 12.00 crores was generated by the farmers by producing 18073 tonnes of silkworm seeds. Dr. Samoon had a review of area production of all the sectors participating in the meeting. Finally the chair stressed upon all to gear up the recruitment process of class IV employees so that work force is put in place to achieve excellence.
