San Mig Coffee, Air 21 hope to rebound; Rain or Shine, GlobalPort dispute lead San Mig Coffee and Air 21 are hope to rebound from opening day losses while defending champion Rain or Shine and GlobalPort will dispute the early Governors’ Cup lead on Saturday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo. The Elasto Painters and the Batang Pier begin hostilities at 3:45 p.m. before the Mixers and the Express do battle at 6 p.m. The San Mig Coffee-Air 21 duel will be aired live over IBC-13. The Rain or Shine-GlobalPort match will air via satellite at 8 p.m. over Aksyon TV. GlobalPort opened the conference with a 101-94 victory over Air 21 behind 37 points and 11 rebounds from import Markeith Cummings. The Batang Pier will take on the Elasto Painters squad coming off a 79-75 victory over San Mig Coffee on the strength of Arizona Reid’s 28-point, 20-rebound performance. San Mig Coffee, meanwhile, will try to rebound behind import Marqus Blakely, who finished with 26 points and 20 rebounds, and James Yap, who struggled shooting just 1-of-14 from the field against Rain or Shine. The Mixers will also feature new addition Allein Maliksi, who was acquired in a deal with Barako Bull sealed on Friday.
