San Mig Coffee, Alaska renew rivalry; Rain or Shine goes for 2nd win against Meralco Another piping hot matchup is in store when Alaska and San Mig Coffee collide in the PLDT MyDSL Philippine Cup on Friday at Cuneta Astrodome. The Aces and the Mixers renew their rivalry at 8 p.m. with live broadcast over TV5. The day’s slate begins at 5:30 p.m. with a duel between Rain or Shine and Meralco in a game that will be shown live over Aksyon TV. Alaska and San Mig Coffee met twice in the playoffs last season. The Aces spilled the Mixers in the semifinals of the Commissioner’s Cup en route to winning the franchise’s first title in the post-Tim Cone era. San Mig Coffee got its revenge in the Governors’ Cup quarterfinals, knocking out the Aces before winning the title — the 15th of Cone’s career to tie him with the legendary Baby Dalupan. Both the Aces and the Mixers are coming off opening day losses last Sunday — Alaska to Rain or Shine in Davao and San Mig Coffee to Ginebra at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum. In the first game, the Elasto Painters for the early tournament lead when they battle the Bolts. Third overall pick Raymond Almazan is expected to debut for Rain or Shine after helping the Letran Knights to a runner-up finish in the NCAA. The match will feature a showdown between Gilas Pilipinas sharpshooters Jeff Chan and Gary David. David, in his debut game for Meralco, scored 26 points in a losing effort against Talk ‘N Text in Cebu. interaksyon/interaktv/san-mig-coffee-alaska-renew-rivalry-rain-or-shine-goes-for-2nd-win-against-meralco
