Sandra Ruth Lipsitz Bem (June 22, 1944 – May 20, 2014) was an American psychologist known for her works in androgyny and gender studies. Her pioneering work on gender roles and gender stereotypes led directly to more equal employment opportunities for women in the United States. [-] Instead of a funeral service, the family met with her last Sunday, a group gathering where we all shared our memories of her and our thoughts and feelings, said her husband, Daryl Bem, 75, also a nationally recognized psychologist. Everyone was aware of the fact that Tuesday was the deadline.
