The Bison (25-6, 12-2 Summit) were announced as the 12 seed and will be facing 5 seeded University of Oklahoma in the West region on Thursday. The announcement was shared in front of the NDSU faithful in what will mark as the last time NDSU basketball will have an event at the Bison Sports Arena before a multi-million dollar renovation will turn it into the Scheels Center at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex. The NCAA tournament placement comes after the Bison Athletic department announced that the new court on the Scheels Center will be named the Pioneer Court. Leaving the old BSA on Sunday for the final time will be a group of six seniors, eager to earn NDSUs first NCAA tournament victory. The Summit League player of the year and senior, Taylor Braun leads the best field goal percentage shooting team in the country along with other starting seniors, Trayvonn Wright and Marshall Bjorklund. The Summit League conference and tournament champions will be making their second trip to the NCAA tournament after first appearing in their first year of eligibility in 2009. Four starting seniors, led by Ben Woodside gave the previous year’s national champion, University of Kansas all it could handle as a 14 seed in the now demolished Metrodome. This Bison team will be coming in to their game this week with a lower seed than 2009 and high expectations of this year’s possible Cinderella, with previous high quality wins this season against Notre Dame, Western Michigan and Delaware.
