Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is a banker and scion of the Kano ruling - TopicsExpress

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is a banker and scion of the Kano ruling class. Sanusi is the grandson of Emir Muhammdu Sanusi. After holding various positions in the banking sector, Sanusi was appointed the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in 2009, a position he held until he was removed under controversial circumstances by President Goodluck Jonathan early this year. Sanusi’s father, Alhaji Aminu Sanusi, never ascended the throne - he died occupying the office of Ciroman Kano. Sanusi was appointed Dan Majen by the late Emir Ado Bayero in 2012. Sanusi is rumoured as the favourite candidate of the Kano State government for the post. He is tipped as one of the strongest contenders to the throne, whose popularity enjoyed a boost among the people in the state during his tenure at the CBN. *As much as I like him, I dont think he is fit for the throne. A nonconformist and social critic like Sanusi Lamido Sanusi even if made an Emir by the powers that be, politicians will not last on the throne when new government is ushered in. I love SLS but Emirship is better left with conservatives.
