Saturday August 30, 2014 Julia update: That loud scream coming from the Seattle area and echoing over the peninsula that Im sure you all heard was my daughter Julia. This time it did not have anything to do with a painful episode. Julia made a rather momentous discovery today. The scream was followed by Mom! Why didnt you tell me over 1/2 my head doesnt have any hair? Although she has been taking selfies and has seen some of the pictures of surgical scars, the strip of hair they left in the front really makes it appear she has much more on her head than she just discovered. For the first time during rehab they were working on personal care and had Julia at a level she could see in a mirror and in the back. Hence, the dramatic moment. I have been told we need to get together with Maegan Melseth at Maxwell Salon ASAP! You let me go out in public liked this? She is so funny, she just keeps me laughing! I did go right out and buy her some really cute headbands and scarves to cover her headband scar and bare spots. Julia has also made friends with a young man her age on the rehab floor who is also paralyzed. They were hanging out together and giving everyone a break. Ive been reassured that his mother is in the same room with him just like Im in the room with her so they have been chaperoned when Im not there. Came home today to have an early birthday dinner made by my lovely sister Holly Bryant Anderson since Ill be at the hospital on my birthday. Lydia Rose Bryant is heading over to be with Julia after she gets off work tonight on her two days off. I will be able to care for my dad and also get my other two high school students ready for the start of school. My grandson Liam is with his other grandma Kiman Lucas for the weekend so it is very quiet here when I got home. Hope I am successful in getting some things done and not crashing since Im a bit behind on sleep. I think prayers of thanksgiving feel real appropriate right now as Julia has been feeling much better this week!
