Saturday, December 20 Mary Did You Know? Helen Phillips Mary - TopicsExpress

Saturday, December 20 Mary Did You Know? Helen Phillips Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. Luke 2:19 Mary, did you know? What did Mary know about her newborn son? What does any mother know about her child’s future? Gabriel told her, “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High God.” Her cousin Elizabeth confirmed that she was the “mother of my Lord.” When the Holy Spirit speaks directly to our hearts, we, too, can have faith like Mary for the future. Mary did you know that “when you kiss your little Baby you kissed the face of God?” We love our children with an incomprehensible love. Yet Jesus calls us to love everyone with the same love. Did you know when you show kindness to the least of our brothers and sisters you, too, are kissing the face of God? Mary did you know? The song is one of triumph, the baby “the Lord of all creation…who would one day rule the nations.” Yet did she know the pain and suffering she and her baby would have to endure for that to happen? God did. He knows our pain and suffering, too, and walks with us through it to triumph. I love this song because it is one of the few contemporary songs that captures the essence of Christmas in beautiful words and music. “Mary, did you know…the sleeping Child you’re holding is the Great, I AM?” Thank you Lord, the Great I AM, that you became a baby that we might know you personally, that you might know our pain and suffering and heal us, and that you will lead us triumphantly home. Grant us the faith of Mary to love and follow you always. Amen
