Saturday brought the prospect of Spring on its way, and an early sail trial with the first “4T FORTE” composite sail designed and built by OneSails in the UK. A Code 3 jib, built for a serious short-handed race program, the sail looked good straight out of the bag. The sail was built to the “100C” spec – the equivalent of a double sided taffeta laminate construction. Sail Designer Peter Kay commented, “Without the parasitic weight of mylar film layers, or the added mass of glued taffeta components, this sail demonstrates how “4T FORTE” composite sails offer a significant weigh saving, especially in this robust style, often used for cruising applications.”
