Saturday evening I went to a Dance Party event and seated near me - TopicsExpress

Saturday evening I went to a Dance Party event and seated near me was a middle aged lady with these big dark glasses on and using a beautiful fan to fan herself. I was amused. I nudged my friend and nodded my head toward the lady and made a face, as if to say, Get a load of her and her sunglasses in this dark studio. We proceeded to watch all the great dance demonstrations and then the Salsa instructor took the floor again and began to introduce the next dance. It was going to be him again and a woman he said came from South America and had lost her vision three years ago. You guessed it, the lady with the dark glasses was lead to him on the dance floor. First, let me say she tore it up. She is a magnificent dancer and had no fear. I aspire to have her confidence on the floor. Second, there arent enough words to describe how foolish, small and petty I felt. I judged someone, made an assumption and then passed it along! Ugh. So, after chastising myself in my head, i had to turn the page. I saw the lesson in my arrogance. I was thankful it was dark in there and no one else saw my ignorance. I also saw her courage and new I would be doing a few more things that I had walked into that studio unsure if I would even attempt. Be aware, there are teachable moments all around you, all the time. You might be the lesson, you might learn the lesson. It might be both. I share this to say: I am a work in progress. I am human, I stumble, I fall, I acknowledge it. To anyone I have wronged, I am sorry with my entire heart. To anyone who has wronged me, I forgive you and I am past it. This moment is the moment I live in, and I am glad I share this space with you. Good morning.
