Saturdays hunt NE of Watersmeet, MI and around the cabin. Wet, wet, wet...but there were some birds. 15 grouse and 7 woodcock. Grouse continue to be tough with the ground cover still in place. Managed to break an 0 for 17 slump on grouse over Gretchen in her now deceased older brothers spot of US-2, in fact we scratched out a mixed bag there. We could have had more grouse, but we hit a covey of short-tails there and chose to give em a schooling instead of being greedy. The day reminded me of a Gene Hill passage: A grown man walking in the rain with a sodden bird dog at his heel who can smile at you and say with the kind of conviction that brings the warmth out in the open Id rather be here, doing this, right now, than anything else in the world is the man who has discovered that the wealth of the world is not something that is merely bought and sold...This is the wealth of the world.
