Saw an old student today @ the Savannah State University Homecoming Parade. He said, Is that you, Ms. Headen? I said yes, he said, Remember me in your fourth grade class? LOL. I had to think and do a double- take as in with looking and thinking because I didnt want him to feel bad because of my memory. :) Lol. So, he said, Oh, well, I was a great student and well-behaved and proceeded to tell me his name, his Jon now which is outstanding, and who he was. I told him yeah, I know & did remember, but it is so sad that teachers are not remembering the countless and many students who are well-behaved over the years. I remember some, but if it is the early 90s, the Butler Elem. Years, I have to look and think twice. Now, this was way back in the early 1990s when I 1st started, but I felt so awkward. He proceeded to tell me that I gave a lot of hard work and projects then, and how some thought I was strict and always talked about how we should act, and he told me that you helped me later to appreciate all that talking you did was to help us function in society. I laugh because I remember. I have learned to relate more and lighten up when needed. Key words: when needed #teachermoment #lovewhatIdo
