Saw this shared by a friend. Its too good to keep to myself. This is the kind of teacher I want to be! And...at the risk of turning this into a political post I will say, its teachers with the educational philosophy and technique described in the video that make Amendment 3 such a bad thing for Missouri. How can we as a state expect teachers to be able to effectively do their job if we amend our state constitution to tie teacher performance evaluations to standardized tests? You think teachers teach to the test now? Wait until job performance is tied to those tests. Dont think it will be worse? Youre kidding yourself. Let teachers teach. Let them reach and inspire those students who are not motivated to learn. Thats what good and effective teachers want to do. Teachers already have quality standards to which they are held and evaluated. Let that system work and the local school boards do their jobs. A no vote in November on Amendment 3 will do just that. *Stepping off soapbox now.
