Sawdust/Plank Why is it so easy to see the faults in others but overlook our own? Why are we so critical of others and give ourselves so much grace? Jesus words today hit me with a two by four between the eyes. I am the one who needs to see myself as a sinner first. I need to get rid of the sins and shortcomings in my own life before I can get out and point the finger at others. I think what Jesus is really getting at here is that I need Gods grace and mercy each day. There is never a day that goes by that I am not dependent on his forgiveness to make me righteous. If I need that grace and mercy I need to extend that grace and mercy to those around me. I need to cut people some slack. I need to look for the good in others and overlook their short comings. Treat others the way I want to be treated. Today is a new day. I thank God for his grace and mercy and by His grace and mercy I want God to help me show that to others. Luke 6:41 Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brothers eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 42 How can you say to your brother, Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye, when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brothers eye.
