Scales, Richard Nathaniel Scales Link = Sylvia Veronica Scales married James Whitby Parminter Parminter (Irish and Philippine branches) - Scales Richard Nathaniel Scales born 1867/9 died 1939 was born in Co Limerick, a teacher by profession, CIVIL SERVICE CLERK, he married circa 1890 Edith Rathbourne daughter of Henry Readbourne, she was born 1872 from Co Dublin died 1947 15 UPR GARVILLE AVE RATHGAR. In 1911 he was a Superintendent in the General Valuation Office. And in 1911 the family were living at 5 Annesley Park (Rathmines & Rathgar East, Dublin) (note Edith had a sister Kathleen residing with them in 1911 who was a bookkeeper in a printing works) They had issue: Richard Douglas Scales, born circa 1891/3 died 1964, in 1911 he was a clerk in a coal office. He served with the Royal Dublin Fusiliers in Gallipoli, wounded in the shoulder and invalided out, rejoined his unit in Alexandria, later fought in the Somme in France. Kathleen Anne Scales, born circa 1894/5 died 1963 Henry Stanley Scales, born circa 1896/7 died 1960 married Dorothy ‘Aunty Dot’ Isabel Aylward Wilfred Scales, C.B.E. born circa 1900, died 1947 married Dorothy Maude Thrift. (born 1900 died 1975) daughter of William Edward Thrift (born February 28, 1870 in Halifax, Yorkshire, England, died April 23, 1942) Richard Douglas Scales married Verena Rubina Mary Flynn they lived first in Rathmines, later moving in circa early 1950’s to 18 Dodder Park Road, Rathfarnham. Issue of Verena Rubina Mary Flynn and Richard Douglas Scales Desmond Scales married Noeleen ?, they lived in various locations including beside Loreto Convent in Rathfarnham and later in Dalkey. ‘Des’ was an auctioneer by profession and had auctioneering rooms in Rathmines over a cake/coffee shop roughly in the area of the Swan Centre nowadays. He was at one stage elected President of the Irish Auctioneers Association. Richard (Dicky) Scales unmarried, he suffered from Polio. He went to London and worked for Phillips Electrical. He was a much loved uncle of his nephews and nieces and we always looked forward to his visits home. Patricia Scales unmarried. ‘Pat’ suffered from Alzheimer’s in later life. She worked in the offices of W&R Jacobs in Bishop Street, Dublin Sylvia V. Scales born 1926 died 1990 married James Whitby Parminter and had issue Sylvia Parminter, James (Louis) Parminter and Felicity Parminter Marjorie Scales married Archibald Hampton and had issue Patrick Hampton and Garret Hampton Issue of Sylvia V. Scales and James Whitby Parminter James Louis Douglas Parminter
