Scholar Spotlight: Today we highlight Shibolo Awali. Awali is studying law at Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU). Please read this great quote from Awali about street children’s experiences on the streets. “Given the fact that I went through a lot as a street kid, I saw how it’s very harsh living on the streets. You are guided by no one in the name of a parent; you have to go around the streets looking for what to eat and it’s so hard; and people mistake you for a thief and the like, so you’re beaten. These children in the streets are not necessarily wrong or bad children, as they are so called. They are simply children who find themselves in the streets out of different circumstances and definitely they need to be helped to get out of the streets.” – Shibolo Awali, CROSO Scholar (2013-present) We share this today on the International Day Against Police Brutality.
