School Superintendant Says Student who Allegedly Wrote Threat Will Not Be Returning to Berrendo Middle School By Richard Morris KBIM Radio News Roswell School Superintendant Tom Burris says a student who provided a written confession regarding the writing of a threat will not be returning to that campus. Burris says there was a report of a threat written on a restroom wall at the school last Thu...rsday. “The threat was taken seriously and police were called to aide in the investigation. The parents of the student who was threatened were called and apprised of the situation,” Burris said. He says several students were interviewed and samples of handwriting were obtained so that a comparison could be made. He says one of the suspects came forward Friday with a written confession and that student was immediately removed from school and is facing disciplinary action, according to board policy. “The student will not be returning to Berrendo Middle School. We will not tolerate this kind of behavior. It is our mission that students come to school and feel safe and supported. Burris thanked the Chaves County Sheriff’s Department for their prompt action in resolving the matter . He says both the sheriff’s department and school district had extra personnel on hand to talk to parents and students.
