Science has tracked our ancestors back to a not quite human, not quite ape and named her Lucy Duke. At Hadar in the Awash Valley of Ethiopias Afar Depression. Lucy was up and around 3.2 million years ago. Her day was probably similar to Victoria Robinsons day. Getting up early, hunting for and not becoming breakfast. The Afar Depression would be a fine place to raise a family. Plenty of trees to live in, plenty of water, lots of juicy insects for seasoning. Depressions did, however, have a considerable drawback. During volcanic activity they had a tendency to fill up with carbon dioxide and Sulfuric dioxide gases. You not only suffocated, you were left smelling like rotten eggs...Then again, mankind has a lot of reptile traits...like the vestigial nictitating membrane we all have...
