Seahawks vs. Broncos Recap Seahawks 15 Broncos 21 The game started off with both teams not moving the ball on their first drive and on the Broncos second drive they marched down the field and scored a touchdown. On the following drive by the Seahawks there was first a 46 minute rain delay and then the Hawks went down the field and scored with the help of penalties. After the starters came out, the game got really sloppy with penalties. Throughout the game there were a total of 25 penalties. 13 for131 yards for the Seahawks and 12 for 95 for the Broncos. In my opinion, the league’s emphasis on penalties will hurt the league in the long run. Tavaris Jackson came in for Russell Wilson and played for a couple of series and proved to that he is a solid backup. When Terrell Pryor came in he was able to move the ball, but at times he seemed indecisive with his decisions. On the second to last drive on 3rd and 1 inside the 10, Terrell rolled out to pass and ended up running out of bounds and losing yards. He should have thrown the ball away in that situation. Terrell had a chance to win the game and threw an interception in the end zone with less than three minutes left. Denver was able to finish the game after that. On defense, two players stood out. Rookie middle linebacker and Brock Coyle and rookie defensive end Cassius Marsh. Brock started the game and had 4 tackles and one assisted. He was responsible for getting the team into their defensive alignments with the play calling. Cassius had 3 tackles, one assisted and a sack. He looked very disruptive when on the field. On offense, three wide receivers made a case to make the team. Rookie Paul Richardson had 4 receptions for 37 yards with a long of 12. With his blazing speed, he was given a lot of respect in fear of going deep and got open easily on out routes. Ricardo Lockette in his 4th year had two catches for 36 yards made a nice catch in traffic. And converted QB Bryan Walters had 1 catch for 26 yards. 2nd year running back Christine Michael had the only touchdown for the Seahawks and looked better than Robert Turbin in competition to be the backup behind Marshawn. The offensive line looked terrible missing 4 of it’s 5 starters from last season. Denver played just about every starter and you could tell that this game was more important to them after being embarrassed in the Super Bowl. They also did some game planning instead of playing more basic. The Seahawks were missing a lot of starters and 10 players didn’t even make the trip. The bottom line is this was only the first preseason game. There is still a lot of improvement needed before the season starts. But that’s why there’s 3 more games before it actually counts! ~ Superhawk ~
