Seattle Seahawks ~ Seahawks are in the playoffs Sunday if: we Win #SEAvsAZ AND Eagles lose or tie, OR Lions lose or tie, OR Packers Lose or tie. Tuesday in Hawkville: Seahawks’ surest path to the playoffs? Just keep winning. seahawks The Seahawks can clinch a playoff spot in several ways on Sunday, but the most direct route starts with beating the NFC West-leading Cardinals in Arizona on Sunday night. The last thing coach Pete Carroll wants to talk about is the first thing most 12s want to know: What do the Seahawks have to do to clinch a playoff spot? The NFL issued this week’s playoff scenarios on Tuesday, and the Seahawks are in if: They beat the 11-3 Cardinals in Arizona on Sunday night, and the 9-5 Philadelphia Eagles lose to or tie the 3-11 Redskins in Washington on Saturday night; or the 10-4 Detroit Lions lose to or tie the 5-9 Bears in Chicago on Sunday; or 10-4 Green Bay Packers lose to or tie the 2-12 Buccaneers in Tampa on Sunday. There also are three more obscure scenarios: a Seahawks tie and an Eagles loss; or a Seahawks tie and losses by the Lions and Packers; or an Eagles loss and win or tie by the 10-4 Dallas Cowboys against the 10-4 Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. The bottom line here is that the Seahawks need to win, not just Sunday night against the NFC West-leading Cardinals, who are 7-0 at home this season; but also against the 6-8 St. Louis Rams in their regular-season finale at CenturyLink Field on Dec. 28. That way the Seahawks don’t have to worry about any of those other scenarios. They will win the NFC West and, at 12-4, have a very good chance to grab the top seed in the NFC playoffs – which would mean a first-round bye, a home game in the divisional round and, if they win that game, the NFC Championship game at CenturyLink Field for the second consecutive January. Carroll has not, and will not, mention any of this to his players. “We’re going to try to play the same kind of football we’ve been playing and that means we’re going to give it everything we’ve got and we’re going to try to go all out to get a win and we’ll take it to the next week,” he said on Monday. After Sunday’s 17-7 victory over San Francisco that extended the Seahawks’ winning streak to four, and eliminated the 49ers from the playoff race, quarterback Russell Wilson said, “We’ve got a lot of football head of us. Hopefully we can keep winning and keep finding ways to win.”
