Second Worst Movie of 2014: Left Behind This and my #1 choice were neck and neck for the top position on this chronicle of crap, because Left Behind is perhaps the most amateurishly put-together movie Ive seen all year. There is not a scene, not a minute, not a SECOND where this movie manages to show us anything remotely interesting, and this is easily demonstrated by the fact that even though it is a highly Faith-based film, even the Christians who went to see it hated its guts. The acting and dialogue are absolutely atrocious and make me weep especially for Nicolas Cage, who is usually interesting to watch in even the worst movies. But here, it is like his soul has been wrenched away in a Dementors kiss, and he remains only a wooden, pay-check fueled puppet incapable of genuine emotion. Also, an apocalyptic film, the visuals are garbage and the supposed suspenseful landing of the plane takes up the entire movie: ultimately leading to nothing. Ive seen the original Kirk Cameron Left Behind and while it was clunky and EXTREMELY heavy-handed, at least it was never boring. Compared to that iteration, Left Behind is a half-assed piece of propagandic filth that should be forgotten immediately.
