Security officer shot multiple times-saved by his vest GLENDALE, AZ - Police are actively searching for a man who shot a security officer at a Glendale Circle K Tuesday night. Glendale police spokesman Sgt. Jay ONeill said the shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. at the store near 58th Avenue and Camelback Road. ONeil said the suspect was attempting to steal beer when he was approached by the uniformed security officer. The suspect put up a fight and fired several rounds at the security guard, striking him in the arms and chest. Police say that the security officer was wearing a bulletproof vest, which probably saved his life. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers are trying to locate the suspect who fled the scene and he is described as a Hispanic male, in his late 30s or early 40s, 5 feet, 5 inches tall and approximately 150 pounds. He has short dark hair and a full mustache. He was wearing white tennis shoes, long gray shorts, and a black or gray shirt (button up type shirt but it was unbuttoned and there was nothing underneath). Police say that a similar theft at another Circle K convenience store last month left a clerk dead. If you have any information, you are asked to call the Glendale Police Department at 623-930-3000.
