Selah High School Band Hits a High Note! Viking Band to Showcase New Uniforms as they Lead all Bands During Veterans’ Day Parade: Downtown Yakima will be a sea of red, white, and blue tomorrow as spectators gather to watch the Annual Veteran’s Day Parade. But, among the patriotic attire will be the colors of Viking blue and gold as the Selah High School marching band hits a high note and leads all bands down Yakima Avenue during the parade, as they debut their new uniforms. Previously dressed in uniforms that were in use for over two decades, leaders of the Viking band program decided a tune-up was in order. Spearheaded by band boosters Todd and Sandy Kinyon, and Suzann Noe, Selah High School Band Director, Linda Doria, and partly funded by a donation from the Selah School District, the arrival of the new uniforms last week represents over a year of work including fabric research, and the selection and ordering process. “I would like to thank everyone who worked on the uniform project,” said Doria. “This represents dedication and diligence from a lot of individuals for the betterment of Selah students. This is such a positive milestone for our students and band program and is a definite reward for all their hard work. We are very proud and honored to debut these uniforms at the Veteran’s Day Parade.” The growing Viking Band, which is 86 musicians strong, will be represented by 83 members at the Veteran’s Day Parade. Marching behind the band will also be students from Brian Dibble’s class at Selah Middle School who will be dressed in military uniforms representing American history. We hope you support the Selah High School marching band tomorrow as they hit a high note by donning their new uniforms and leading all bands down Yakima Avenue in the Veteran’s Day Parade.
