Self-indulgent BD post, indulge me: I remember Kevin Armbruster playing this cassette tape on the high school hockey bus ride to Lake Shore Twin Rinks in Rochester, NY. It was the usual audio fodder to get the team psyched-up to play Rush-Henrietta. But I loved it so much that I kept singing one line from this song over and over again, out loud, as I skated around the ice during that game: This is so unreal, what I feel Flood, sell your soul, feel the blood Pump through your veins, cant explain The element thats everything Just clench your fist and close your eyes Look deep inside, hypnotize Yes, the ecstasy, you can pray You will never let it slip away... The oppenents were looking at me like I was kinda crazy, and maybe my teammates, too, which was a good effect. It distracted the hell out of the other team. For whatever reason, I never used that tactic again after that game, but I think I had good results, maybe a goal or an assist or both. More importantly, that night kinda changed me for good. It sealed my fate. I was no longer timid. And this songs brilliance had A LOT to do with that. youtu.be/I625zPMQ4r4
