Selma, Alabama has already suffered enough negative publicity and false reporting to last a lifetime. I have absolutely no doubt it is this biased and negative reporting more than anything else which has stifled and crippled Selmas growth during the past 50 years. As I read excerpts from the national press this morning I was greatly disturbed to learn Oprah Winfrey and Paramount Studios have teamed up to open old wounds and shed the ultimate negative light on Selma, Alabama. Obviously, Oprah and Paramount’s only intention is to make a boat load of money. They could care less about the people of Selma. They will make tons of money at the expense of Selma, Alabama and to the detriment of everyone of us who lives here, and those of us who have remained here in an effort to overcome the negative publicity and false reporting started during the days of Martin Luther King. Oprah and Paramount have teamed up to produce a movie to be distributed and promoted world wide. It will simply be called “Selma.” No doubt “Selma” it is a catchy title and will catch the attention of many, especially since around the world anytime someone hears the word Selma they immediately think of the horrors told by those white trash news reporters and the likes from the North who invaded Selma in 1965. We called them outside agitators. Very few came to report the news but rather came to partake of the fruits so freely given or sold in those day. Few or shall I say none of these white trash reporters ever mentioned the orgies of those days. These orgies took place all along the highways, in open fields, and under make shift plastic tents. There is plenty of photographic evidence to document this truth. I am one thousand percent positive the whole story has never been told. I am even more positive it will never be told, unless of course someone like me finally comes out of the closet and exposes the truth. You should know that I know a great deal more than what you have been told about those days. I was an up close and personal observer on more than a few occasions, especially on so called “Bloody Sunday.” For those of you that do not know, “the events of so called “Bloody Sunday” or at least the event that made Selma famous, took place just South of the Edmund Pettus Bridge. This event, greatly exaggerated around the world for the past almost 50 years, was isolated to an area no more than 150 to 200 feet along U.S. Hwy 80. It took place right in front of what was known then as the Chicken Treat, Glass House, and Henderson Mattress. How could I possibly know? Because I was sitting on the back of my daddys 1960 Dodge chewing on a chicken bone. I had a ring side seat. No doubt the best seat in the house. To make things better soon be 50 years later, I have a photographic memory, backed up by an extensive collection of black and whites. During the time I was posting my “Old Selma” photos, which many of you said you enjoyed and which I intend to get back on soon, I tried to shed the very best light on Selma. I deliberately avoided posting anything which could be construed as negative or open old wounds of the past. Believe me I have some real eye openers from those days in my collection. Although I have received many, many requests to view these photos, mostly taken on so called Bloody Sunday, and the events leading up to and immediately past, and even a few to document these orgies, for now I will hold them private. But dont be surprised if I start showing a few, especially if Oprah is only interested in distortions of the truth and lies. I will close by saying, if Oprah Winfrey and Paramount are interested in telling the whole truth, perhaps they should come talk to this eye witness with a different point of view. If they have doubts I was there then I will show them the picture taken on Bloody Sunday, of me sitting on the back of that old Dodge gnawing on a chicken bone.
