Semi Official Jack Update! (From Caity Carmody) And this is a long one because I finally have time to address some of the questions weve been getting. I left the hospital last night after I saw Jack. Hes feeling way better than when they admitted him and he looks better too. Hes making jokes and giving Chelsey smooches so thats good. But hes still pretty weak and theyre taking it really slow. At this point, it sounds like they are going to be transferring him to a regular room for a few days and perhaps by Tuesday (after theyve set up the hospital equipment at home), hell be able to go home. From then on forward to the end, they are looking at round the clock care. Theyre going to see if he can handle liquids today. I guess he was asking for a popsicle. :) Chelsey is doing quite well considering. Shes been eating and sleeping when she can get it. She said she got some sleep last night (I know she was thrilled to be able to stay in Jacks room again) so thats good. Her spirits are up. It truly is amazing what a little bit of quiet time and good sleep can do for a person. Things have the ability to change and change and change again, so when we give an idea of a plan, please know that it is not set in stone. I will do my best to keep updating people, and you are encouraged to share the wealth of information. They continue to need your prayers and mental hugs and love and whatnot. A lot of people have asked when they can visit and what they can do to help, so this is where Im going to try to address that. Visits There are a lot of people who have been coming by to visit. And I know they love that and its encouraging, so that doesnt need to stop. But just keep in mind that if you come to visit, you may only get to see Jack for a little bit at a time. Yesterday, a lot of our time was spent waiting. Theyd never turn anyone away who wanted to see him, but I dont want anyone to get the impression that they are going to get to spend hours shooting the shit with them. (Not at this point any way). If youre able to save your trip until after Tuesday when they are looking to go home, you might get to spend a bit more time with Jack and it would definitely be easier to see him. Theres a lot of procedure involved with visiting someone in a hospital. Especially when they are in ICU. If youre not able to save your trip and today or tomorrow are the only days that work, then by all means, come now! The moral of the story is, do what you can do and what you want to. They will be perfectly okay and understanding with whatever you decide. I promise. They have yet to say ugh that persons coming? or ugh that persons not coming?. They can feel your love no matter if youre in the hospital waiting room or sitting at home. :) Your network in Madison is at its strongest right now. Lots of people have offered up ferrying services or beds to sleep on. I have no doubt you will be able to find help where/when you need it. What else can I do? The first and foremost thing they need from you is to know you love them. I know Facebook gets a bad rap sometimes, but it is a great way to quickly and easily let them know you love them. Hitting like to a post or posting on a wall or commenting on a post or sending a private message... its all good. And Chelsey DOES check that stuff and I know she will be sharing it with Jack as well! Emails are great too if you dont have Facebook! Cards are also a great way to show your love. (Msg Liz for the address, Facebook peeps.)
