Senior Education Officer- Erbil International Rescue Committee The Senior Education Officer is a qualified national staff member who, under the supervision of the Education Manager, will be an integral part of all Education projects awarded to the IRC during his/her employment period. The majority of the Education project aim to reach the conflict affected children in KRI governorates, and create a safe and healing environment for them; also it support the government to provide a quality education to the refugees, IDPs and host communities children. The projects’ components include but not limited to; schools’ rehabilitation, the development of Parent/Teacher Associations, awareness raising meetings with key community leaders focusing on girls’ education, training of teachers on accelerated learning programs and HC. The Senior Program Officer plays a key role in designing and implementing the activities under this project by delivering and monitoring the trainings and providing proactive support to the staff under the program. He/She will work closely with the Education Program Manager and the rest of the Education Team. The Senior Education Officer will be based in Erbil, with frequent travel to the KRI governorates. Major Responsibilities: The Senior Education Officer is expected to: o Manage up to six education staff based in Erbil office. o Support all of the project activities implemented by the program officers in Erbil. o Ensure timely implementation of program activities within the work plan. o Ensure that project indicators are being met and recommend any adjustments whenever necessary. o Maintain close contact and relationships with the governmental departments, stakeholders for coordination and mutual support. 1. Assist the Program Manager in supervising CYPD staff in Kurdistan Region Governorates. 2. Follow up staff day to day activities and administration, logistics and program related issues. 3. Monitor project implementations and daily activities including field visits, purchase requests, distributions, and trainings 4. Liaison with the Ministry of Education and the DoE offices in the governorates, NGOs, and acting as the IRC education focal point during the absence of the Program manager. 5. Assist the Program Manager in oversee budget spending and propose activities within the available budget. 6. Provide inputs to the quarterly reports or any other project progress reports. 7. Provide advice and guidance to the Administrative Officer and Program Assistant to follow up the administrative requirement. 8. Contribute to the orientation sessions to CYPD staff and MoE/DoEs on new projects and other skills or areas of improvement. Skills o Qualification: Degree in social science, education or related field is preferred. o Knowledge and background of the context and the targeted areas of IRC projects in Kurdistan region. o Strong organizational and communication skills. o Minimum experience of working in the field with vulnerable communities at grass roots level. o Good command of English language, Kurdish and Arabic languages are required, knowledge of other local languages spoken in the region is an asset. o Computer literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Word programs Company Profile The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives.
