Senior cops shunted out on court order The Lucknow bench of the high court has ordered transfer of circle officer, inspector and all other police officers from Swaroopnagar police station to outside Kanpur. The senior superintendent of police had already been transferred from Kanpur in compliance with the HC order after the MLA and junior doctors dispute. As many as 81 doctors of Ganesh Shanker Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College, Kanpur had urged the court to provide them safety and security. On behalf of doctors, amicus curiae—advocate appointed on courts direction to assist it—senior advocate J N Mathur informed the court about the doctors trauma. The atmosphere on the college premises is full of terror and students are feeling unsafe and terrorized, pleaded Mathur. The doctors also demanded a CBI probe into the incident. A division bench of the court asked the principal of the Kanpur medical college to be present before it to suggest it what steps could be taken to restore normalcy in the college. The HC further summoned the newly posted SSP Kanpur along with the general diary on March 14. The HC was irked over the act of the state government of handing over the probe of seven FIRs to different investigating agencies. It directed the government to furnish list five deputy SPs and 15 inspectors out of whom it would select one deputy SP and five inspectors for probing the entire matter. In course of hearing on Wednesday, Dr Himanshu Singh appeared before the court and pointed out that FIR registered on his behalf was in fact not lodged by him to which the court asked him to lodge the complaint he had by the next date. Additional advocate general Bulbul Godial informed the court that the state has appointed ADGP power corporation Ltd G L Meena to hold role of police officers in the whole episode and asked him to fix responsibility of the guilty. The court has posted the matter on March 14 for next hearing.
