Sent out a quote for an editing gig yesterday. Lets hope it comes through. Have you written a book? Heres a quick editing tip: typically in fiction these days youre supposed to stick to one characters point of view (POV) in a scene. That means that we can only see what that character sees, hear what he hears, smell, taste, touch, experience what he experiences. Anything outside of what that character can experience is technically a POV error, but there can also be exceptions to this. Jumping from one POV to another is called head-hopping and it is typically frowned upon. The easiest way to avoid this, in my opinion, is to decide who your POV character is before you write the scene and stick with them until the scene is done. That way youve decided in advance whose POV youre wielding and youll be less inclined to stray from their POV. If you need an edit on your manuscript, no matter what the length, message me here on FB and Ill gladly get you a quote.
