Instead, Americans want Congress to restrict the ability of the president to act unilaterally on this issue. According to the poll, Americans oppose President Obamas decision to go it alone when it comes to immigration. When asked the following: President Obama recently said that he may go around Congress and take executive action on immigration policy. Which do you support more: President Obama changing immigration policy on his own, or President Obama working with Congress to change immigration policy? A whopping 93% of Republican voters oppose efforts by President Obama to amnesty illegal aliens by executive fiat and instead want him to work with Congress to craft immigration policies. On top of this, more than half (56%) of Democratic voters believe that President Obama should work with Congress instead. Overall, 74% of voters are against the presidents use of executive actions to amnesty illegal aliens. Your colleagues in the House have worked hard to stop the president and have passed legislation such as H.R. 5272 to make this happen.
