September 16, 2013 8:39pm Lining up her Minnie Mouse dolls. We had wonderful news on Thursday with lab results … Ella’s counts were high enough to go ahead with treatment and the procedure on Friday. Friday was a very long day, leaving at 6:00 am for the hospital. I took the day off and Bryan’s parents traveled with Ella and me to Children’s. Ella was the first patient in the Clinic OR for her lumbar puncture to inject the methotrexate into her spinal fluid. I waited for the nurse to come and get me as she was waking up; however, Ella woke up abruptly, sitting up and asking for Mommy. Fortunately, she was not upset, but of course, she was hungry. Ella continued to be in a happy mood as we waited and waited for her chemotherapies to arrive. Eventually, she did get both her chemos. We knew we would be able to break from the Lovenox this weekend for a few weeks, but learned that we did not need to resume it for the weekend. Ella will need the Lovenox shots again in the next round of treatment to prevent another clot. Ella continues to say, “No shot, no shot” with a big grin when we do medicines. She is thrilled not to have to get those and we are thrilled not to have to give them to her twice a day for the next month or so. As always, Ella responded well to treatment on Friday. We pray for continued strength and that her legs stay strong since her movement is as it was prior to her diagnosis. Unfortunately, she developed another rash today above her port. It could be caused by the bandage again, but we are unsure … something else to monitor. Next on the calendar for treatment is labs on Sunday (home care will come) and treatment on Monday, September 23 if her counts are good. That will be Day 41 of this round, then a break before beginning the next round, which will be Delayed Intensification. This week should be similar to last week with Grandma and Grandpa Boynton babysitting and playing with Ella … tea parties, coloring, painting, dressing and undressing her dolls, etc. Of course, fun, fun, and more fun! There are some more photos posted. G and G Boynton babysat Ella Saturday evening too while we co-hosted a couples shower for one of my best friends who is getting married in November. We are grateful for their help! We realize this is extremely last minute, but we just found out this past weekend about Light the Night Walk for LLS (Leukemia and Lymphoma Society) in Mason on Thursday, September 26. We just set up a webpage (pages.lightthenight.org/soh/ButlerCo13/ABoynton) if you are interested in helping out a wonderful cause to help raise funds for research for Leukemia. I am registered to walk, but Bryan, Ella, and my parents (G and G Bartelheim) will be joining me that evening. Thank you in advance if you wish to contribute. We continue to be so appreciative of all your support and prayers. Your prayers are working! Ella amazes us with her resiliency and continues on with her sweet personality and cute antics, as well as the not-so-fun two year old behaviors. But, we do not mind dealing with those at all! Have a wonderful week! Love, Amy and Bryan
