September 26 - Are you Satisfied? You may say , Oh I would be but for this one problem in my life!!! If I could just get rid of this one thing that plagues me and torments me, Then I would be happy and content. And that is our #dilemma and our standoff with our lives and the life within, the carrot we are always chasing. There is just another thing that we need or that we would like fixed. Then I would be content. We put the problem first. God says this: Put the provision first and the problem will be taken care of by the provision. When the problem loses its priority often the problem will be taken care of. Want a scripture for this? Matthew 6:31–34 (ESV) 31 Therefore do not be #anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. 34 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. If we live in the anxiety for temporal provisions, we will never enjoy the only true contentment there is for man. That is the satisfaction that comes from a love relationship with God. This is why we are told to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. Make sure that you are delighting in Godly provisions and that you are truly satisfied by them. Then God will add these other lesser things we need. If we dont find our satisfaction in a personal fellowship with God, then we will live in bondage to a never enough spirit. This spirit pervades and dominates the flesh and the society we live in and it is easy to be infected with its #disease. It blinds the hearts of men and keeps us locked up in what revolves around us instead of what is going on in the kingdom of God. In the kingdom of God, there is a unique phenomenon. I will try to explain it with an illustration. Often here in Florida, there are dry spells. This can spell disaster for the plants in our yard. This means too, that to keep these plants alive, we will have to hand water either with a hose or a watering can. When you hand water, you deliver enough water to supply the plants, but there is never enough watering done to also provide any runoff. This would be costly. Your water bill would sky rocket. Yet when it rains here in Florida, the ground gets saturated, the streets flood and the streams, ponds, and lakes swell. There is an abundance of water that not only provides for my lawn and gardens, but touches the smallest stream and the deepest lake. There is a provision there for every living thing. I believe the same thing is true in the kingdom of God. We would want a bottle of water, when God says there is a river of blessing available. We can control a bottle of water, but a river will control us and involve us in a greater realm beyond our control. The only problem is that we were made for the river that is where we will find true satisfaction and be released from our anxiety about our survival. Revelation 22:1–4 (ESV) 1 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3 No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him. 4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. Notice here the river of the water of life. The river speaks of a flow of Gods life flowing into the street of the city (i.e. the place where we live our daily lives.) This river flows from the throne of God, the seat of his authority or his kingdom. This is what we should seek, to be under the authority of Grace in our daily lives. Here is where we will be satisfied. Here is where we will find the feast of fat things, and we all know that fat makes the food we eat tasty and enjoyable: Isaiah 25:6–9 (ESV) 6 On this mountain the LORD of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine, of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined. 7 And he will swallow up on this mountain the covering that is cast over all peoples, the veil that is spread over all nations. 8 He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the LORD has spoken. 9 It will be said on that day, “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the LORD; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.” God thinks of a feast for all peoples, we think of ourselves. We think of the grass on our lawn and the plants in our garden, God thinks of floods on dry ground that will refresh every living thing. We live anxious and annoyed by the pressure of anything unexpected. God says Be satisfied in a living and loving exchange with me. Hear him as he calls to us today. Isaiah 55:1–3 (ESV) 1 “Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. 2 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. 3 Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David. Lord Jesus, fill us and lead us today into greater and greater realms of your provisions for our lives. Forgive us for our short sightedness. Help us to see what you desire for us to see, and to live in the life that you have provided for us to live in. Amen!
