Several months ago, Gabe from the San Diego History Museum sent an inquiry about our attending a film premiere called Balboa Park: The Jewel of San Diego, again in era appropriate costume. Well, He finally sent me the info today. Its in one week! They want up to 12 costumed attendees. PM ME FOR GABES EMAIL IF INTERESTED!!!! Here are the details from Gabe: Tuesday, December 9, 2014 from 530pm to 8pm WHAT: The San Diego History Center, in collaboration with the San Diego Tourism Authority, funded by the Tourism Marketing District, will premiere this original film, a bold dream that has finally come to fruition. The film is produced by Electric Ivy, and presented by The San Diego History Center. The Media Sponsor is U-T San Diego. HOW MANY: We would like as many as 12 period-clothed volunteers. Due to the high-profile nature of the event, Charlotte needs a photo of each potential volunteer in their historic garments, for prior approval. TIME LINE: 5:15 – 5:30pm All volunteers must be in full historic regalia. See ATTIRE below. • Arrive between 515pm and 530pm. Parking available in adjacent Horton Plaza Shopping Center. 530pm Quick orientation to the theater, and event venue. Please arrive by 530pm so we can start on time. Costumed volunteers will be given job assignments at this time. Likely you will be passing out film programs and directing guests to theater entrances and restrooms, etc. 6:00pm Doors to the venue open to invited guests. San Diego Tourism Authority is producing the event, and will issue all invitations. There will not be any young children present. Costumed volunteers will be stationed at the exterior entry doors, immediately inside the small foyer and at the auditorium doors. They will hand out programs. Please note: Costumed volunteers are not ushers. You will not be guiding people to seats (other than giving general directions) 6:30 pm The program and film start promptly at 6:30pm. 7:45pm Take places in the foyer/entry to thank people for coming. 8:00pm Volunteers are finished with their assignments and free to go home. ATTIRE: Your choice of two themes for evening theater soiree. (1) Late Victorian era for older women/ guests – Evening/ theater/ public event ensembles (2) Edwardian Period to 1915. Evening/ theater/ public event ensembles. A PHOTOGRAPH OF YOU IN YOUR HISTORIC GARMENTS IS REQUESTED SO WE KNOW WHAT YOU WILL LOOK LIKE UPON ARRIVAL!
