Shahzada Parveen is Kashmir’s First Muslim Woman Superintendent Police =>One of Jammu Kashmir Police’s most recognised women faces, Shahzada Parveen is state’s first Muslim woman to be promoted as Superintendent Police. Praveen, a single mother, was appointed in Jammu and Kashmir Police as an officer in 1983. She had earlier served as DSP (traffic) in Srinagar. “There are several women SPs, but I am the only Kashmiri Muslim woman to hold this position,” Shahzada, who hails from Anantnag in south Kashmir, told TOI. Pipping ceremony of recently promoted police officers was organised in Srinagar on Saturday. On this occasion, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone Abdul Ghani Mir was the Chief Guest. He and Deputy Inspector General of Police, Central Kashmir Range, S.A Mujtaba, SSP PCR, Sheikh Mehmood, SSP Srinagar, SAH Bukhari, unraveled the ranks of newly promoted officers. The promoted officers are Shahzada Parveen, Tahir Saleem Khan, Ali Mohammad Shah, Ghulam Jeelani Wani and Manoj Pandita. All the senior officers of District Srinagar and Police control Room, Kashmir participated in this function.
