Shaykh Ahmed Bin Yahya An-Najmee On Establishing The Khilaafah المصدر: الفتاوى الجلية عن المناهج الدعوية Question: What is the opinion of your excelence regarding the one who says that it is obligatory for us now to use our efforts and lay down the foundation for establishing the rightly guided caliphate. Is this orientation correct? Or is it erronious? Answer by the virtuous Shaykh, Ahmed Bin Yahya bin Mohammed An-Najmee - May Allah have mercy upon him and enter him into Jennah: This orientation is erronious, one hundred percent! What did Allah, glorified be He, say to His prophets?: وَلَقَدْ بَعَثْنَا فِي كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ رَسُولًا أَنِ اُعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَاجْتَنِبُوا الطَّاغُوتَ And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): Worship Allâh (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Tâghût (all false deities, etc. i.e. do not worship Tâghût besides Allâh). An-Nahl 36 He ordered them with Dawah to Tawheed! Likewsie, the prophet - may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family- and his companions- may the pleasure of Allah be upon them- and everyone who followed him in every time and place; likewise they also call (make Dawah) to Tawheed, to the foundation that this religion stands upon; when the prophet - may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family- sent Muaadh Bin Jabal to Yemen - may Allah be pleased with him- what did he say to him? he said: Call them (make Dawah) to the testification that none has the right to be worshipped (in truth) except Allah (Laa Ilaaha Illa-Allah) and that Mohammed is the messenger of Allah, and if they obey you in that, then inform them that Allah has made obligatory upon them to pray five times a day... to the end of the Hadeeth [1] If this is the case, Then Allah has ordered that the Dawah is towards Tawheed, to the foundation of the religion, and the prophet - may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family- ordered that Dawah is towards Tawheed, towards the foundation of the religion Then, if we were to say: We call to the Caliphate; then we have effectively abandoned the foundations which Allah and his messenger ordered with, and we have come with other foundations. As for the Caliphate, then it ceased a long time ago, and it will again (be established) near the end of time when Allah wills and desires [2]. (Also), we were not commissioned with giving Dawah to the Caliphate, rather we have been commissioned with giving Dawah to Tawheed [3] He who calls (makes Dawah) to the Caliphate has indeed abandoned that which Allah assigned to him, and has (instead) come with that which his Hizb (party, group) had commissioned him with [4]. Allah The Most High said: أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَٰٓؤُا شَرَعُوا لَهُم مِّنَ ٱلدِّينِ مَا لَمْ يَأْذَنۢ بِهِ ٱللَّهُ Or have they partners with Allâh (false gods), who have instituted for them from the religion that which Allâh has not allowed Ash-Shuraa 21 Then the Caliphate is for Allah - glorified be He, The Most High- He is the one who wills when it will be established by the one who is from Ahlul-Bayt (the family of the messenger of Allah) - may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family- and he is Al-Mehdi, the one who will pave the way for the descention of Isa - may peace be upon him. Yes, this is the Caliphate that will come about! If that is the case, then it (the Caliphate) will come about whenever Allah wishes and not when we wish, and the statement that they are working for its cause, then working for its cause is Baatil (false), and this is a false intention, it is not permissible for them to devote themselves to giving Dawah for its cause, for they only intend by way of this Dawah of theirs politics, and they (only) intend the obtainment of the chairs (i.e. political positions), and verily to Allah we do belong, and to Him we shall return Footnotes [1] Al-Bukhaari 1395 and Muslim 19 [2] Hussein Bin Mansoor Ad-Daghreeree mentioned in his footnote ((the prophetic Caliphate will be thirty years, then Allah will cause a king to come, or will make whom He wills king)) Abu Dawood, Tirmidhee and others [3] Shaykh Mohammed Ibraheim Al-Masree mentioned here as a benefit: and the establishment of the Caliphate is from the fruits of the Dawah to Tawheed [4] Shaykh Mohammed Ibraheim Al-Masree mentioned here as a benefit: It is incumbent that the foundation for this Caliphate is the same foundation that the Caliphate was built upon the first time around, who is it who is going to establish this Caliphate? Them? The ones voting in parlimentary elections, those that have Democratic ideologies or ideologies that have been affected by Democracy, those that wear the clothes of the westerners and the easterners? Will the Amir Al-Mumineen be wearing a suit with a tie? For it is us, the salafies who in reality are heading towards and working on establishing the Caliphate
