She is Dead This is a poem I composed in 2011... Not as long as The Raven, but long (too long) nonetheless. I share it with 126 poetry lovers here because in revisiting this personal work I find and have heard comments from others that it appears to be about certain women in Poes stories, poems, and or life. Some think its about Poes wife, Virginia, others say Ligeia, Berenice, the lost Lenore, and others. The poem, no doubt is Poe inspired, but not intentionally about any particular Poe character. However upon review it seems to fit perfectly. The narrator clearly is distraught over a loved one... and is perhaps the cause of then womans death indirectly or maybe even directly. Either way, guilt and closure is the poems focus. Which if any Poe work could it parallel?
