Born December 9, 1933 in Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Katie Wallace Wright and wife of the late Jack G. Cornelius, Sr. Betty was a true Portlock girl and was a 1952 graduate of South Norfolk High School, South Norfolk, VA. She was a member of Ballards Bridge Baptist Church of Tyner, NC, where she was involved in the W.M.U., the Tuesday Morning Walkers, and the L.O.V.E. Group. She is survived by her son, Jack G. “Gilly” Cornelius, Jr. of Norfolk; a daughter, Victoria C. Josue and her husband, Joe of Chesapeake; three grandsons, Jarrin Ryan Josue of Pawleys Island, SC, Noel Ryan Josue of San Diego, CA, and Jack G. Cornelius, III of Norfolk; a brother, Richard Wright of Chesapeake; sisters-in-law, Sarah Cornelius of Virginia Beach, Lee Cornelius of Norfolk, and Shirley Cornelius of Chesapeake; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth Gay, Helen Farrow, and Thelma Griffin. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 20th at 1 p.m. at Riverside Memorial Park, 1000 E.
