Sheffield man pleads guilty to murdering partner in Firth Park stabbing A 42-year-old man has pleaded guilty to stabbing his partner to death at their Sheffield home. Mazhar Nawab, of Vickers Road in Firth Park, pleaded guilty to the murder of 39-year-old Anayat Bibi at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday. Police were called at around 11.35am on Sunday, August 10, to the couple’s home in Vickers Road, where her body was found. Neighbours living nearby said at the time they were shocked by the incident. A post-mortem examination concluded that the cause of death was multiple stab wounds. Investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Sean Middleton said he was pleased the guilty plea had saved the victim’s family from the ‘ordeal’ of a trial. He said: “Anayat suffered a sustained attack at the hands of her partner. “I am pleased that Nawab entered a guilty plea today and spared Anayat’s family the distress and ordeal of a trial. “Domestic violence can have tragic consequences and my condolences go to Anayat’s family, who are still trying to come to terms with their loss. “I hope that the guilty plea today brings them some small comfort.” Nawab will be sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court on January 28.
