Sheriff Mitch Alexander 208-556-1114 208-753-8851 717 Bank Street Wallace, Idaho 83873 SHOSHONE COUNTY SHERIFF PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 23, 2014 Contact: Mitch Alexander Sheriff 208-556-1150 malexander@shoshoneso Burglary Investigations On December 17th, Corporal Darius Dustin made a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Joseph Jones 48 of Kingston, Idaho. Jones was in possession of a suspended driver’s license; he had no insurance and he could not provide a bill of sale for the vehicle which he claimed to by buying from another person. Jones was taken into custody and during a pat search Cpl. Dustin found two miniature flashlights with “Shoshone Honda” inscribed on them. Cpl. Dustin had been informed earlier by another officer that similar items had been stolen from Shoshone Honda in a recent burglary. Several other items believed to have been taken in the recent burglary were found in the vehicle and the vehicle was impounded so that a search warrant could be obtained to complete a thorough search later. Cpl. Dustin was also to obtain a search warrant for Jones’s residence in Kingston where he located two Stihl chainsaws, and several tools that matched descriptions of items taken in recent burglaries. Drug paraphernalia and a baggie of white powder that tested positive for methamphetamine were also seized. The substance will be sent to the state crime lab for verification. In a separate case on, December 22nd, Deputy Adam Durflinger recovered a stolen UTV which was located in the Upper Page area. The registered owner of the vehicle was contacted about the recovery. The deputy had a key in evidence that had been seized from Keith Dotson during his arrest several days earlier in connection with other previous break-ins. The key seized from Dotson was brought to the scene and placed in the ignition of UTV. The key fit and the UTV started up. As a result Keith Dotson will have a possession of stolen property charge added to his existing charges and when the owner gets an estimate of the damage done to the UTV Dotson will likely be facing a malicious injury to property charge as well. I would like to thank the deputies and other city officers for their diligent work on these cases and others that the valley has been plagued with recently. With the sharing of information and good investigative work you are making a difference. Sheriff Mitch Alexander
