Shin Gunto By Clyde DeLao Thirsty memories lack balance in streams of unfiltered light possessing heaven’s burning right. Enemies bring forth loving eyes filled with kindness grasping mirrors with chains designed to bind us. Crippled hands, a twisted mind, smell of burning matches, and the taste of sour wine; I remember the time. I stand on a pyre of embers and ash; a phantasm found only in the darkest of dreams, come now walk this road with me. Pure of heart and yet so naïve to believe that your love was a gift only meant for me. Quickly summer became fall; whispers of acid rain dissolved by beauty, while I held a burning tree. Who blames the moon and all of Aries diluted dreams; certainly not me? For in the corridors of despair I grasp the logic found in Pandora’s frozen locket. So tightly I held my arms disengaged from there sockets. Weld the blade if you must, let copper lose its luster, and diamonds turn to rust; forgive you I must. Lust I did for you, but that time has passed, so I leave you be; for this was the lesson I needed to conceive.
