Matt 6:12 KJV In about a month, we are going to see the after-effects of our Christmas cheer and many will look upon the burden with a sense of foreboding. The statements start to roll in and the “minimum payment” seems to have doubled on the new credit card statement. This is the time where we look to the creditors and beg forgiveness for our debts, even if only for a month or two. When we call upon the Lord for forgiveness, He is quick to reply. There is not a plethora of paperwork involved, no need to find a co-signer or a guarantor and no waiting period. His forgiveness is complete and immediate yet we try to find ways to complicate it. Do you want to know a secret? Forgiveness is not dependent on faithfully attending a church, paying tithes and being involved in absolutely every class and event put on at the church. A thief hanging on a cross right beside Christ asked to be remembered in Heaven and, at that moment, Christ forgave Him. Where you are at any given moment can be the place where you ask Jesus to forgive you. Time and place are not the defining factor in forgiveness, asking Him to forgive your debts is.
