Should the chess commentators at least try to remain neutral - TopicsExpress

Should the chess commentators at least try to remain neutral during the live broadcast? I believe so, and that what I did when I was commenting on Tal Memorial and US Championship 2009 for the thousands of spectators online. Apparently this approach is not shared by the official commentators of Norway Chess in Stavanger. Of course, its OK to cheer for this or that player, but should the commentator look like he had just lost someone dear to his heart, once he spotted that his favourite player got into trouble?
