Sick and stones may break my bones , but flying into a sea wall in San Francisco can make people think my airline is not managed very well. And then there is the whole Asian concept of Face to consider. I once had a Korean Air Traffic controller give my climbing flight a questionable right 90 degree turn while I was flying on an airway parallel to the North Korean DMZ headed back to Portland, Or from Seoul.. "Say again for Delta 24," I said. As he once again gave me the turn, a KAL aircraft, smaller than a DC-9 passed through my altitude off my right wing in the opposite direction on the SAME AIRWAY. The KAL paint job - sky blue over white belly made the plane almost impossible to see at the horizon. I called out the traffic conflict and added a few choice words of Texas displeasure about almost getting 300 people killed, but the controller refused to respond. He was so "embarrassed". ie "loss of face", that he never came back on the frequency. Really.
